Liberian Slangs and Expressions

"You read" means getting/understanding something without saying much.
For example, I see a man dressed in his Sunday's best walking down the street and say, "you read?"

Means you are on track or you mean business. Cooking with wood or fire cool is messy and a lot of work. Gas is cleaner and faster.

When two powerful entities fight, the little people suffer

If somebody says they will do something, they are already planning it, or it is in progress

"Pomp it" means to match (wear the same or similar clothing) in Liberia. So if we have to pomp it, we will need to buy the same lappa to wear.
