Liberian Word Associations

Before Bong and Nimba became counties in the 1960s, that region was known as the Central Province.

Mount Nimba and Mount Wutivi are the highest mountains in Liberia.

When Liberia changed from a Colony to a Commonwealth in 1839, its first Governor was Thomas Buchanan. Upon his death, Vice Governor Joseph Jenkins Roberts took over as Governor. Roberts later became Liberia's first president in 1848.

The Mano tribe names the first daughter Kou, and the Kissi name the first daughter Sia.

Cape Mesurado (Monrovia area) and Cape Palmas (Maryland County) are capes along the coast of Liberia.
