Liberian Word Associations

The Mano tribe names the first daughter Kou, and the Kissi name the first daughter Sia.

Before Bong and Nimba became counties in the 1960s, that region was known as the Central Province.

When Liberia changed from a Colony to a Commonwealth in 1839, its first Governor was Thomas Buchanan. Upon his death, Vice Governor Joseph Jenkins Roberts took over as Governor. Roberts later became Liberia's first president in 1848.

Both are female names. Musu means woman in Vai, Nennie means woman in Kpelle.

Gola and Kissi are of the Mel language group.
